Partners Through a unique collaboration of Southern Oregon Public Television (SOPTV), two of the nation's premier planetariums: 'Imiloa Astronomy Center of Hawaii, and Buhl Planetarium, of the Carnegie Science Center; the Astronomical Society of the Pacific (ASP), and Interstellar Studios, a state-of-the-art series of visual and educational experiences will be produced for the American public. The story of how the technological innovation of the telescope permanently altered our understanding of the universe and extended our scientific knowledge into previously unimagined realms, will be made accessible to the public through a public television broadcast: “400 Years of the Telescope”, a companion full dome digital and traditional planetarium program: “Two Small Pieces of Glass”, interactive web activities, mobile communication devices, local science centers, and community events. Through this unique collaboration the public has the opportunity to join in the global celebration of the 400-year anniversary of the telescope, along with the world's leading professional astronomers.
